Colonels Original Fried Chicken

- 8 pieces chicken shopping list
- 1 1/2 Tbsp black peppercorns shopping list
- 2 tsp white peppercorns shopping list
- 1 tsp onion powder shopping list
- 1/4 tsp ground allspice shopping list
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg shopping list
- 3/4 tsp caraway seeds shopping list
- 1/4 tsp celery seeds shopping list
- 1/2 tsp thyme shopping list
- 1/2 tsp rubbed sage shopping list
- 1/2 leaf Bay Leaf shopping list
- 1 1/2 tsp paprika shopping list
- 2 tbsps salt shopping list
- 1 tbsp msg (Accent) "Optional" shopping list
- 1/8 tsp red pepper (Yep! cayenne) shopping list
- 1 cup unbleached all purpose flour shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups cake flour (Swans Down) shopping list
- 1/4 cups whole wheat flour (King Arthur) shopping list
- 2 qts vegetable oil shopping list
- 1/2 cup milk and 1 X-lg egg shopping list
- flour Mix: shopping list
- Put all three flours in a plastic gallon zip lock bag and mix well. shopping list
- Spice Mix: shopping list
- Grind peppercorns, caraway seeds, celery seeds, thyme, and Bay Leaf. shopping list
- Add salt and msg shopping list
- mix spices to flour and mix very well. shopping list
- egg/milk Mix: shopping list
- Whisk the egg whites and milk together in a bowl. shopping list
- Drench 6-8 pieces of chicken in the milk & egg mixture until well coated then shake 2 pieces at a time in the flour/spice mixture. Place coated chicken on a wire rack shopping list
How to make it
- Add vegetable oil to the Fryer
- Heat oil 350 degrees
- gently add chicken to oil
- Remove the chicken and place onto a plate lined with paper towels. Cover with aluminum foil and let sit in a warm place for ten minutes.
