Delmonico Potatoes

- 9 medium potatoes shopping list
- salt shopping list
- 1/3 cup butter or margarine shopping list
- 1/3 cup flour shopping list
- 2 1/4 cups half and half or milk shopping list
- 1 (4oz) pkg shredded cheddar cheese shopping list
- (1 cup) shopping list
- 3 TBS. dried bread crumbs shopping list
How to make it
- Early in Day (or day before)
- In large covered saucepan over medium heat, in 1 inch boiling water, cook unpeeled potatoes and 1 tsp salt for 20-30 minutes or until potatoes are fork tender. Drain and cool.
- About 1 hour before serving:
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease 12x8 baking dish. Peel and dice potatoes. In large saucepan over med-high heat, melt butter or margarine. With wire whisk or slotted spoon, stir in flour until well blended and smooth. Gradually stir in half & half and cook, stirring constantly, until mixture is thick and bubbly. Stir in 2 tsp. salt.
- Gently stir in potatoes. Pour mixture evenly into baking dish, sprinkle with cheese, then bread crumbs.
- Bake 25 minutes (or one hour if prepared the day before) or until mixture is bubbly and cheese is melted.
