- Real Country Hoe cake Hoecake shopping list
- 2 cups self rising flour shopping list
- 1 cup milk shopping list
- 1/2 cup vegetable shortening shopping list
How to make it
- Preheat oven to 425.
- ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
- Pour a thin layer of oil to cover the bottom of an eight inch round cake pan and place in oven to heat.
- Cut shortening into flour well.
- Pour milk in and stir until wet.
- Pour into well heated pan and bake for fifteen to twenty minutes or until browned.
- Invert onto plate.

Now this is what I've always called hoecake, and what my parents called hoecake-flour bread, not cornbread. But we always cooked it on top the stove on an iron griddle! Can't be beat!
