How to make it

  • Combine everything and simmer until thick. Do not brown ground beef first.
  • Cook 5 minutes longer, stirring often.
  • Put over cooked hot dogs in a warm bun.

    I haven't seen this addressed in the comments, but I have a question about the recipe... tomato SAUCE comes in 8-oz cans, tomato PASTE in 6-oz cans, which one should it be? And, would the water need to be adjusted as well? I want to make this but don't want to mess it up. Thanks

    I made this recipe exactly as written. Pretty tasty! I decided to kick it up a bit and added the following:

    6 more oz. of tomato sauce
    1/8 tsp. cayene (I'd add 1/4 tsp. if I were the only one eating it...I like the heat!)
    1/2 package "Chili-O" seasoning
    1 tsp. kosher salt
    1/2 tsp. fresh ground black pepper

    CRAZY GOOD!

    After reading all the reviews I decided to try this for lunch. I must have done something wrong. It was awful! A waste of a perfectly good package of ground beef.

    OUTSTANDING. Used it on our Hot Dogs and french fries. This one is definitely a keeper! (My little addition. 1/4 C dark chocolate chips.)

    My family LOVES chili on hotdogs, but we HATE the canned stuff at the stores. Today I went looking for a recipe and found this one. Made it. WOW! A winner! My whole family loved it! Thanks! 5!

    It does..and I had a hard time finally getting the right one..this is a old OLD way of making HD chili and MOST places (restaurants) won't go to
    the trouble of making it..it is GOOD! :)
