How to make it

  • Combine flour and crisco in a large bowl and mix with a fork until crumbly.
  • Add milk and stir to combine.
  • Lightly flour your work surface and drop the dough on it.
  • Knead as few times as possible just to get the dough combined.
  • Roll out a half inch thick and cut into circles ( I use a glass ).
  • Place onto lightly greased baking sheet and brush with softened butter.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 mins or until lightly brown.
  • Take them out and brush the tops with more butter.
  • Serve immediately.

    Great recipe! Just made it and I think it was a hit!

    Note:
    If you don't have self rising flour on hand, it seems that you can add 1/2 teaspoons baking powder and 1/2 teaspoon of salt to each cup of all-purpose flour.

    I just made mine and I think they came out a pinch too salty so maybe you can reduce the salt added to the all-purpose flour..
