Hot Water Pastry

- 1/2 c lard (I use shortening it makes it flakier, besides, "the girls" started using shortening when they baked for their own familes) shopping list
- 1/4 c boiling water shopping list
- 1 1/2 c flour shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/2 tsp baking powder shopping list
How to make it
- Have lard (shortening) at room temperature, put in bowl and add boiling water.
- Stir with a fork until creamy.
- Add flour, sifted with salt and baking powder
- chill
- Makes one two crust pie

I still use crisco, you just can't beat it for pie crusts, biscuits and cornbread! I remember my grandmother having those big buckets of lard. Fantastic post!
