Hobo Bread

This was a simple bread made over a hobo campfire in an empty tin can. Since beans were a staple of most hobos in the 1920's and 30's, it made sense to use everything you had available. Ingredients
- 2 cups raisins shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water shopping list
- 4 teaspoons baking soda shopping list
- 4 teaspoons butter, softened shopping list
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 cup brown sugar shopping list
- 2 eggs shopping list
- 1 teaspoon salt shopping list
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract shopping list
- 1 3/4 cups walnuts shopping list
- 4 cups all-purpose flour shopping list
How to make it
- Pour boiling water over raisins
- Let cool
- Stir in soda, then other ingredients
- Fill 6 or 7 greased and floured soup cans, 14 oz. to half full
- Bake at 350 for 45 minutes
