Halushki - Mama Style

- 1 medium head of cabbage, cut up shopping list
- 1/2 bag of egg noodles, cooked in salted water and drained (aprox 6 - 8 oz, dried) (I used medium in the pic) shopping list
- 1 onion, chopped shopping list
- Coarse ground or fresh cracked black pepper shopping list
- garlic salt shopping list
- ~Variations~ shopping list
- bacon grease or butter or Both shopping list
- 1# bacon, ground beef, or kielbasa shopping list
How to make it
- Original Recipe - Meatless
- Using bacon grease or butter:
- Fry cabbage and onions in bacon grease or butter for about 5 - 10 minutes or so
- Season to taste
- Turn heat down and cover
- Cook until cabbage is tender enough to your liking
- Stir in noodles during last 5 - 10 minutes of cooking
- Mama's Recipe
- Fry bacon, ground beef, or kielbasa
- Drain grease
- Add butter (unless you're using bacon then just use the grease), cabbage, and onions
- Fry for about 5 - 10 minutes
- Season to taste
- Turn heat down and cover
- Cook until cabbage is tender enough to your liking
- Stir in noodles during last 5 - 10 minutes of cooking
- ~Optional~
- If you like, after you've cooked the halushki you can stir in a couple of Tbsp of butter for taste.
