Chicken a la King

- 2Tbsp butter shopping list
- 1tsp minced white onion shopping list
- 1/3 cup chopped green bell pepper shopping list
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour shopping list
- 3 1/2 cups chicken stock shopping list
- 3 cups diced cooked chicken shopping list
- 1 cup chopped mushrooms shopping list
- 1 1/2tsp salt shopping list
- 1/4tsp pepper shopping list
- 2 egg yolks shopping list
- 3/4 cup milk shopping list
- 1/3 cup chopped red bell pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Heat the butter in a skillet.
- Saute the onion and green pepper until onion is transparent.
- Remove the vegetables from the skillet .
- Add flour to the skillet and blend well with the remaining butter in the skillet.
- Add chicken stock and cook until thickened.
- Add the chicken, mushrooms, sauteed onions and peppers, salt and pepper and heat through .
- In a small bowl, beat the egg yolks and add the milk.
- Stir the milk mixture into the chicken mixture.
- Add the red bell pepper.
- Stir until blended.
- Remove from heat and serve over hot biscuits, toast , rice or noodles.
- (If you like you can add a dash of garlic powder.)

I whole-heartedly agree -- if you're going to have calories and cholesterol, do it up RIGHT and in this case, making the sauce rich and flavorful w/egg yolks is the way to go! ps: I like a little bell pepper in my chicken ala king too!! :)
