Pickled Lettuce Side Dish

- 1 head of romaine or similar coarse texture lettuce shopping list
- 2 quarts of water, boiling shopping list
- 2 tbsp kosher salt shopping list
- 3 tbsp sugar shopping list
- 4-5 tbsp white vinegar shopping list
- 4-5 cloves garlic shopping list
- 2-3 tbsp fresh chopped dill shopping list
- 1/4 cup olive or sunflower oil shopping list
- red pepper flakes, black ground pepper shopping list
How to make it
- Boil water
- Rinse lettuce and chop off the root
- Add all spices to water, add garlic, oil and vinegar
- Mix well and test - marinade should be zesty, moderately sweet and sour
- Make corrections if necessary to please your taste buds

- Submerge lettuce leaves into marinade completely.
- Leave to cool and refrigerate for at least 1 hour

- Serve as a side dish with meat or fish
