Brandied Fruit

- ---------makes about 2 quarts------ shopping list
- 1 cup fruit cocktail, not drained shopping list
- 6 cups sugar shopping list
- 6 oz. brandy, bourbon or whiskey shopping list
- 1 cup fruit cocktail, drained shopping list
- 1 1/2 cups canned pineapple chunks, drained shopping list
- 1 cup maraschino cherries, drained shopping list
- 1/2 cup canned white grapes (do not use fresh grapes) or dates shopping list
How to make it
- ------these instruction are repeated over a period of 12 weeks-------
- Into a gallon jar or stoneware crock, place 1 cup undrained fruit cocktail, 1 cup of the sugar and 1oz. of brandy. Cover jar loosely. Let stand in cool place for 2 weeks, stirring 3 times in that period.
- Add 1 cup drained fruit cocktail,1 cup of the sugar and 1oz. brandy. Cover loosely, let stand and stir as directed above.(step 1 ).
- Add maraschino cherries,1 cup of the sugar and 1oz. brandy. Cover loosely, let stand and stir as directed above. (step 1 ).
- Add apricots,1 cup of the sugar and 1oz brandy. Cover loosely, let stand and stir as directed above. ( step 1).
- Add 1/2 cup each pineapple chunks and grapes, 1 cup sugar and 1oz. brandy. Cover loosely, let stand and stir as directed above. (step 1).
- At end of last 2 weeks, cover tightly and refrigerate. Fruit will keep indefinitely. Spoon from bottom of jar to serve over cakes, puddings and ice creams.
