Dads Favorite Oatmeal Cookies D

These oatmeal cookies have been favorites in my family since I was a little girl, baking the cookies for Dad. Of course, we all loved them! I am already bias because everytime I make these I have to have a glass of milk or hot chocolate along with the warm memories.
Ingredients
- 1 c. all-purpose flour shopping list
- 1/2 c. granulated sugar shopping list
- 1/2 c. packed brown sugar shopping list
- 1/2 t. baking powder shopping list
- 1/2 t. baking soda shopping list
- 1/4 t. salt shopping list
- 1/2 c. shortening shopping list
- 1 egg shopping list
- 1/4 t. vanilla shopping list
- 3/4 c. quick-cooking rolled oats shopping list
- 1/4 c. chopped walnuts or pecans shopping list
- Granulated sugar for rolling the cookie dough balls in shopping list
How to make it
- In mixing bowl, stir together first 6 ingredients. Add shortening, egg and vanilla; beat well. Stir in oats and nuts. Form into small balls. Dip tops in additional granulated sugar. Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies =D
- The cookies are crinkled looking on top with granulated sugar.

I like this part...Granulated sugar for rolling the cookie dough balls in, I have never done that, sounds good. Thanks.
