Black Forest Steak

- 2 lbs. round steak or sirloin tips shopping list
- salt & pepper ( to taste) shopping list
- 2 Tbsp. flour shopping list
- 2 Tbsp. olive oil (or other oil to your taste) shopping list
- 1 c. chopped onion shopping list
- 2 cloves garlic shopping list
- 2 4-oz. cans sliced mushrooms shopping list
- 2 c. water shopping list
- 2 Tbsp. A-1 Steak Sauce shopping list
- 1 c. red wine (I used merlot in the photo) shopping list
- 2 tsp. beef bouillon shopping list
How to make it
- Trim steak and cut into small portions (tips or strips).
- Salt, pepper, and flour meat.
- Brown meat in oil.
- Add onion & garlic, and brown slightly.
- Add water, steak sauce, wine, boullion, and mushrooms.
- Stir to loosen meat particles on bottom of pan.
- Cover and simmer slowly 1 hour or until tender.
- Serve with buttered egg noodles.
- Note: just sprinkle the flour, salt and pepper over the meat. You could also shake in a bag. you don't need to coat every piece.
- Note: I got this recipe from my cousin a few years ago. I believe it originally came from a Beta Sigma Phi cookbook from the 1960s.
