Puff Pastry Calzone

- 1 puff pastry (mine was refrigerated but if frozen, allow it to thaw) shopping list
- 1 pound lean ground beef shopping list
- 1/2 tsp. oregano shopping list
- 1 small to medium onion, diced shopping list
- 1 or 2 cloves garlic, minced shopping list
- 3/4 c. pizza sauce - more or less based on taste shopping list
- 1/2 c. sliced mushrooms shopping list
- 1/2 to 1 red pepper diced shopping list
- 1-2 cups mozzerella - depends on how cheesy you like it shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
- 2. Brown ground beef with onions, garlic and oregano - then drain.
- 3. Unroll the puff pastry and smear pizza sauce over one half of it.
- 4. Add ground beef mixture, peppers, mushrooms, and cheese.
- 5. Fold the other half over the filling and seal the edges.
- 6. Optional : can brush an egg white wash or melted butter over the top if you wish.
- 7. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Slice and serve.
Options
- Can really use your imagination with your "stuffing" - I can imagine it would be good with more of a cheeseburger type filling (pickles, onions, ketchup, mustard), or ham and cheese with mustard and/or mayo.
