The capybara is the largest rodent in the world. Capybaras are semi-aquatic mammals found throughout almost all countries of South America (except Chile). They live in densely forested areas near bodies of water. Read more I was in Peru on a short gig and wound up in the jungle about 70 miles from Lima. One of the crew I was checking on had shot a Capybara and given it to the local village. They were cooking it on a spit and invited us to eat with them. Very tasty and very tinder. Like rabbit only not as chewy as wild rabbit. I learned later that they are raised commercially in Peru, Ecuador and Brazil. While the tail is true I don’t expect anyone to rush out and get Capybara for next Sunday’s BBQ. You could do worse. You could try to BBQ some Samoan steak. See less
