Czechoslovakian Bar Cookies
From DIZ3 9 years agoIngredients
- 1c. Sugar shopping list
- 1 c. butter or Margarine shopping list
- 2 Egg Yolks shopping list
- 2 c. Flour shopping list
- 1/2 - 1 c. Pecans, chopped (*see note) shopping list
- 1/2 c. Strawberry Jam shopping list
How to make it
- *Note: The original recipe calls for 1 c. nuts to be added in the cookie dough. However, I find the cookies can be dry. I only use 1/2 c. nuts and put in the top half only. I have another family member that brushes the top of the dough with the egg whites and sprinkles all of the nuts on top.
- 1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- 2.Grease an 8x8" square pan. I line the pan with foil and then grease.
- 3. In a bowl, cream butter and sugar. Add egg yolks. Stir in flour.
- 4. Divide dough in half. Press one half in the bottom of the pan. Spread jam on top of dough.
- 5. Add nuts to the remaining half of dough. Using a piece of wax paper or foil, press dough into an 8x8” square. Place dough on top of jam.
- 6. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 – 40 min. until golden brown. Watch carefully as the edges will burn.
- 7. Cut into small bars.

Dec 3/16 My family went wow fantastic as soon as they took a bite. I used homemade strawberry jam and am so looking forward to trying other jams. For me it baked in 25 minutes so I would suggest you checking from the 20 minute mark.

It's mostly sugar and butter. Who couldn't like that?
