Szalonna (Hungarian Dirty Bread)

- 1 loaf of sliced fresh Rye bread shopping list
- 1 package of fatty bacon shopping list
- 1 onion (I use a sweet onion like Vidalia) shopping list
- 1 green pepper shopping list
- 1 small bag of radishes shopping list
- Optional: 1 cucumber shopping list
- Optional: 1 tomato shopping list
How to make it
- Dice onion, green pepper, and radishes. Set aside.
- If using optional ingredients dice and add them.
- Adjust quantity of any ingredient to taste.
- Cut bacon strips into 4 pieces and pan fry till crispy.
- Reserve bacon grease.
- Spoon dice vegetables onto a slice of Rye bread and spoon hot bacon grease over vegetables. Top with a crisped piece of bacon.

I liked this! I changed it just a bit by slightly cooking the vegetables - onion, pepper, radishes - in the pan with the fat. I drained some of fat & used regular bacon - not extra fatty. Since it was hot, I cubed the dark rye bread & tos...more
