Cornish Hens In The Crockpot

wonderful aroma in the kitchen for this easy and tasty recipe. Meat falls off the bones. Could also be done with chicken
Ingredients
- 2 Cornish hens shopping list
- favorite seasoning or herb combo shopping list
- melted butter or margarine shopping list
- 2 cups of pitted cherries with their liquid ( light syrup ) shopping list
- or comparable amount of chicken broth shopping list
- 1 large onion sliced shopping list
- gravy flour if desired to thicken liquids shopping list
How to make it
- into the crock pot place the cherries and liquid
- add the sliced onion
- season hens inside and out
- place a Tbs butter into each cavity of the hen
- Place hens in crock pot
- drizzle with oil or butter
- Cook low 6-8hours
- thicken liquid if desired
- Place hens on a platter and spoon cherry sauce over.
- Note: type of cherries determine sweetness of the dish, sour cherries will be more tangy than sweeter ones, so some honey may be added if desired to the sauce
