Yoghurt Drops (for Rodents)
From jo_jo_ba 11 years agoIngredients
- 2 cups full-fat vanilla yoghurt or homemade yoghurt-with-variations.html">yoghurt With Variations shopping list
- 2 tbsp honey shopping list
- 3 tbsp unflavoured gelatine shopping list
- ½ cup instant skim milk powder shopping list
- 3 tbsp cornstarch shopping list
- ½ cup crushed breakfast cereal (any type, I used Cheerios) or 2 packets instant oatmeal shopping list
How to make it
- Beat together the yoghurt, honey, gelatine, milk powder, cornstarch and cereal. Let stand 10 minutes.
- Scoop yoghurt mixture into a Ziploc bag with the corner snipped off and pipe small drops on sheets of parchment paper cut to the size of your dehydrator trays (or baking sheets if freezing).
- Dehydrate until completely firm and dry to the touch, about 6 hours (or up to overnight). Let cool to room temperature, then transfer to a zip-top bag. These store best in the fridge but can be kept in a cool, dry place as well.
- If freezing, place sheets in the freezer overnight, then transfer to a zip-top bag and storing in the freezer.

Fixed these yesterday and dehydrated them, I used Strawberry yoghurt. They ended up reminding me of strawberry kettle chips, strangely compelling. Not the same as the yoghurt drops that you buy in the stores, which are inedible for an adult.

OK the grandkidlings love the yoghurt drops...don't know why but they are kids so I guess that is reason enough. I will give this a try my next slow day. Sounds like fun, thank you.
