I like Margaritas, sorta. Being a SoCal brat I had my first one at about 15 or 16. It was the usual thing, Tequila, Triple Sec & lime on ice in a jelly glass. We were in some cheap cantina in Ensenada. To be honest, I drank Margaritas mostly cause it was “cool”. Read more Same thing with Tequila shots with the lime & salt. At least that has a bit of ceremony to it. On one of my visits to San Miguel my host offered Margaritas and I declined, having grown out of some of the “being cool” thing. Ingredients
- • 2 parts very good tequila blanco, 100% agave. shopping list
- • 1/2 part Rose’s lime juice. shopping list
- * 1/2 part fresh squeezed lime juice shopping list
- • ½ part Cointreau (not triple sec). shopping list
- • ice cubes. shopping list
- • salt for rimming the glass (optional). shopping list
How to make it
- 1. Rim a proper glass with salt, if doing that.
- 2. In a shaker, combine all of the other ingredients, including the ice.
- 3. Give this lot a good shake and serve.
- I usually serve this in a basic glass, with a few ice cubes, shades of the cheap Cantina in Ensenada. Go as up market with the glass as you like but the Margarita tastes the same. I only salt the rim of the glass about half the time.
