Hungarian Poppy Seed Cake

- 3 cups flour shopping list
- 2 cups sugar shopping list
- 1/2 tsp salt shopping list
- 2 tsp baking soda shopping list
- 3 eggs shopping list
- 1 1/2 cup oil shopping list
- 1 tsp vanilla shopping list
- 1, 14 oz evaporated milk ( not condensed ) shopping list
- 12 oz of poppy seed filling ( use from a can or jar or make your own ) shopping list
- 1 cup chopped toasted walnuts ( I omitted ) shopping list
- powder sugar topping or a glaze ( I made an orange glaze from orange juice, rind and sugar ) shopping list
How to make it
- In a large bowl combine all the dry ingredients well
- Pour in the wet ingredients except for the filling and mix well
- Add the poppy seed filling and beat for a few minutes until well mixed
- lastly stir in the nuts
- Pour into a greased and floured large bundt or tube pan
- Bake in a 350F oven until tested done about 90 minutes
- Cool in pan till cool
- Remove to a serving plate
- Glaze if desired when warm or dust heavily with powdered sugar when cold
