Authentic Bechamel Sauce

- 2 tbsp unsalted butter shopping list
- 2 tbsp all purpose flour shopping list
- 2 cups whole milk or half & half shopping list
- 1/4 tsp salt shopping list
- 1/8 tsp white pepper shopping list
- pinch of nutmeg shopping list
How to make it
- In med. sauce pan, melt butter over med. high heat.
- Add flour and cook, stirring occasionally with a wooden spoon for about 2 minutes, do not allow to brown.
- While whisking constantly, add milk, salt, pepper and nutmeg.
- Cook the mixture, stirring occasionally until it comes to a soft boil.
- reduce heat to med. low and continue to cook until the sauce has thickened about 8 minutes.
- Can be stored in a reusable container for up to 5 days.
