Easy Crunchy Batter Fried Fish

- 1 cup flour shopping list
- 1/2 cup cornstarch shopping list
- 1 tsp salt shopping list
- 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning- or similar seafood seasoning shopping list
- 2 tsp baking powder shopping list
- 1 tsp sugar shopping list
- 1 cup water shopping list
- 1 tsp oil shopping list
- oil to fry shopping list
- 2 Lbs fresh haddock, cut up in manageable pieces to home deep fry shopping list
How to make it
- Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl
- Combine the liquid ingredients
- Before mixing both together in a batter, dip fish in some of the reserved dry mixture just to lightly coat each side
- Place coated fish on a plate
- Then make batter, by mixing both wet and dry mixtures well
- Dip fish in batter to coat well,
- Carefully drop pieces into hot deep oil, fry just a few pieces at a time not crowding fish when frying
- Turn each side once until golden brown.
- Place pieces on absorbent toweling paper to drain
- Serve immediately
- We love this with tarter sauce, lemon wedges and fresh home made coleslaw
- Note: make sure your oil is hot enough ( 350F ) either using an electric deep fryer or a heavy duty pot to heat the oil when you do any frying.
