- •2 pounds red-skinned potatoes diced or sliced about 1/4-inch thick; shopping list
- perogies can be substituted shopping list
- •1 tablespoon butter, melted shopping list
- •1/2 teaspoon salt shopping list
- •1/4 teaspoon pepper shopping list
- •1/2 teaspoon dried leaf thyme shopping list
- •1 teaspoons caraway seeds crushed shopping list
- •1 large onion, halved, sliced shopping list
- •1/2 small cabbage, coarsely chopped or shredded shopping list
- •1 ½ lbs of Polish sausage sliced 1 inch pieces shopping list
- •1/2 cup apple juice shopping list
- •2 teaspoons cider vinegar shopping list
- •2 tablespoons brown sugar shopping list
- •12 oz beer shopping list
How to make it
- Preparation:
- Arrange sliced or diced potatoes in the bottom of a 4-to 7-quart slow cooker. Drizzle with the butter and sprinkle with about half of the salt, pepper, and thyme. Toss to coat then add the cabbage and onions. Sprinkle with remaining seasonings and top with the sausages. Pour the beer and apple cider over all and then drizzle with vinegar. Cover and cook on low setting for 8 to 10 hours (on high setting for 2 to 4 hours).
- If using perogies cook cabbage and sausage first on high for two hrs or until done. Boil salted water and cook perogies. They are done when they float to the top. Fry the perogies in butter and add to the crock-pot at the last minute. Toss and set to low until ready to serve.
