Rouladen

- 4 slices beef Rouladen (Ask your butcher to do this cut for you) shopping list
- salt and freshly ground pepper to taste shopping list
- yellow mustard shopping list
- 2 large Bick's dill pickles,quartered shopping list
- 8 strips of bacon shopping list
- 2 carrots, peeled and then cut in thin lengthwise pieces shopping list
- flour for dredging shopping list
- 1 medium onion, chopped shopping list
- 1 can Campbell's Golden mushroom soup shopping list
- 3/4 can of water (use the can from the soup) shopping list
- vegetable oil shopping list
How to make it
- Salt and pepper Rouladen slices. Spread mustard on one side of the Rouladen generously and place 3 thin slices of carrot, two strips of bacon, a generous sprinkle of chopped onion, and two pieces of pickle on each piece of Rouladen. Roll up the Rouladen with the filling inside and secure with a toothpick. Roll in flour until well coated. Brown on all sides in hot oil in a fry pan over medium high heat and add any left over onion that didn't make it into the Rouladen rolls. Remove from fry pan and place in a casserole dish. To pan, add 1 tbsp. flour, mushroom soup, water and one more generous squirt of yellow mustard. Bring to a boil, remove from heat, pour over Roulades and bake in oven at 350F for 1 1/2 hrs.

We loved this! Made recipe exactly as posted except to omit carrots ~ no particular reason. I used some sirloin I had in the freezer, pounded thin. This is a keeper ~ we loved the sauce. Thanks, Chuckie!!
